The WALP Winter Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 and will be hosted by Legal Personnel of South Central Wisconsin.  SAVE THE DATE!  More details to follow.

Don't forget that all articles and reports for the fall issue of  Behind the Bar must be submitted to the Marketing Director by Friday, October 2, 2009. Anything received after October 2, 2009, will be published in the winter edition of the Behind the Bar.

The Marketing Committee has come up with a list of guidelines for submissions for the Behind the Bar and website.

·        Articles, chapter update, officer reports, etc. should be submitted in Microsoft Word.

·        Pictures should be submitted in .JPG. However each picture should be no larger than 40MB.

·        Ads for publication in the Behind the Bar should be submitted in Adobe PDF.

·        Ads for publication on the website should be submitted in .JPG with at least 1000 x500 pixels. Ads may be in color or black and white.

Reminder to WALP MATES:

reservation room block closes on April 7th instead of April 17th.  After
April 7th you will not be given our room rate.  So call for your hotel

On Saturday, February 28, 2009, the Greater Milwaukee Association of Legal Professionals ("GMALP") presented Beverly G Butula, Assistant director of Library Services of the law firm of Davis & Kuelthau with the coveted NALS Foundation Scales of Justice Award. The Scales of Justice Award is an honor exemplify the following qualities in their local community and legal fields (e.g., speaking engagements, presentations, authoring articles and handouts, etc.):

• Improve access to justice
• Improve the quality of legal services
• Promote the legal profession
• Support the community where they work and live

Ms. Butula has been the librarian at Davis & Kuelthau since 2001. She is responsible for all aspects of library service and administration. She assists members of staff with research, reference, competitive intelligence, and cite checking. Prior to becoming a librarian, Ms. Butula was a litigation paralegal.
